Keystone RV Sucks!

I created this blog to give RVers a place to share their Camping World encounters. It’s not a fancy website, just a place to share the Camping World consumer experience. So few reviews that I’ve read were positive that I’m assuming this space is necessary.

After dealing with Camping World personally, we came to the conclusion that Camping World sucks. Our own experiences fill the first two posts. First is our sales experience in Monticello, Minnesota. Second, our warranty repair experience in Bartow, Florida. From what I’ve read it doesn’t matter where you are; it’s the company standard.

The BBB

Also, I’ve spent some time reading other experiences, including Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaints. The BBB website gives them one-star on customer reviews then gave them an A+ rating. What is that about?

After this lame response, the BBB marks the complaint as answered. Furthermore, when the company does anything in response, the BBB reports the complaint resolved.

BBB Keystone RV Complaints Screenshot

Complaint after complaint that is marked resolved was not resolved in the customer’s eyes. Find out for yourself. For instance, I invite you to visit the BBB website and do your own research. In addition to the BBB, I checked out PissedConsumer.com. They give them one or two stars.

An Attempt for Change

It may be useless, but maybe, someday, the company will change its’ business practices. A little integrity goes a long way. In the end, I’m hoping future RV consumers will be warned by posting authentic Keystone RV experiences.

These posts are not categorized because most will be warranty encounters. Please contribute your story and let’s hope for change.

Also, I’ve posted our warranty repair experience with Keystone on KeystoneRVsucks.net. Same issue, lack of integrity. It is our my opinion that Keystone and Camping World are in bed together. We experienced a team effort to rip us off.

Above all, we need a multitude of experiences publicized to facilitate change. Please contribute your experiences.

  1. Condensation everyday till we paid for our cap to be sprayed with insulation.Came in on T.V.,fireplace,front window. Aprox.$2k, never did hear back from Keysone except not our problem. New 2018 Alpine 3700FL. Have had other minor problems. The RV industry needs to be held accountable. They might have money as a whole ,but we have more if you put us all togeather.

  2. Where do I start and when does it end? Blinds that have self destructed, dealer damage RV Country won’t stand up for or address. A stove replaced before we even pick up the unit. Replacement was never correctly hooked up resulting in dangerous gas leak. Floor damage from something left on floor during repairs. Furnace board blew out but it took 2 different dealers to figure it out and the thermostat still has been replaced.
The list goes on but bad advertising is the answer.
I’m having a full rear body wrap on my new Montana stating how bad Keystone sucks.
“ASK ME WHAT I THINK ABOUT KEYSTONE SERVICE ” with a crap emoji .
“DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A KEYSTONE PRODUCT” !!! You’ll receive substandard service and poor quality!
Worth every penny I have to pay. You can’t sue em because of the mediation clause but if we all wrap our rides that’ll cause squeaking wheels to get greased.

    1. We’re having ours lettered with 10” red capital letters
      DON’T BUY KEYSTONE JUNK
      DON’T BUY FROM RV***
      CALL 440.***-****

  3. Brand new 34 MLS keystone slide-out screwed up broke a weld the whole wall move in and out away from frame they wouldn’t cover it under warranty said that owners must have hung on something sliding it in or out no damage to slideout at all how can as a owner you close the slideout and hit something hard enough to break a weld but no damage to slide out my attorney will be in touch keystone suck my ass hole 😀

  4. My issue is with the company Keystone rather than the RV. I own a 2018 Cougar 1/2 ton travel trailer 22RBS. Great floor plan that fits exactly what I want. Issue is, I had a tire blow out that tore up the side of the coach, ripped the gas lines out of refer and heater, knocked a hole thru the floor into the inside of the coach, and other related damage. Problem I have is my RV sits unusable in storage waiting for service to “get parts” from the manufacturer to fix my rig. FIVE (5) months later I’m still waiting. The dealer nor the manufacturer don’t care how long a customer is without the camper they paid them hard earned money for.
I remind you a tire, TWO YEARS OLD blew out a demolished my camper. Why don’t they build wheel wells that can withstand a tire blow out? “They” said it’s our fault because we want cheap campers and we keep buying them how they build them. They are right! So, this is the last RV this guy will ever buy. They blame it on Covid 19. haha I’m personally sick to death hearing that excuse. Why? Because it doesn’t seem to have stopped nor slowed them down from SELLING them!
Also, I don’t know what everyone’s experience has been but camping is not fun anymore. Resorts/campgrounds are always full! You have to make reservations months in advance to camp. Campgrounds are not keeping up with the hype either. Lipstick on a pig.
Rant over…..and yes Camping World/Gander whatever are full of a bunch of crooks. Why do people keep buying from them, and why aren’t they under some sort of criminal investigation?
    Whew, I was/am pissed. Haha

  5. Keystone is not a quality company. We just bought a new Montana High Country 3777FL. I was delivered with the following issues: GE Refrigerator freezes over. TV does not rise enough for the remote to work, 2 out of 3-night lights do not work, the door does not latch properly, the electric fireplace does not show flames. It has been 4 weeks, and nothing fixed. I am working with the dealer Ansley, and they have not gotten support from Keystone. I have called GE myself several times, can not get someone to fix the refrigerator. I paid over $85,000 and got a lemon. Keystone is not a quality manufacturer, and its service is a joke. I will never recommend them to anyone. They should be ashamed of this!

  6. I entered the data correctly; apparently, Keystone is blocking my negative review. Again, please do not trust this company or their products

    1. I am experiencing this with Keystone right now. My emails don’t go through. It’s a great way for this individual to not have to respond to the questions being asked. She told me trim was never placed around the entrance door (on the inside). I have one piece, but not on the right side of the door.

I used a different email and received a reply that did not address what I had said and asked. I am writing the CEO and BB.

  7. Steve Holmes, the Director of Operations for Keystone RV said not to email him anymore, so this email below has been sent to almost 100 TV stations throughout the US and Canada, almost 50 RV Dealers. There are 63 people alone from Facebook that want to take legal action against Keystone RV, and the list is growing. I just sent a certified letter to the US Government complaining and also one to my Congressman. Keystone twists the story around to make them look better. I legally recorded every single conversation I had with Steve Holmes and Customer Service. One party consent in Indiana and Tennessee. Brand new Facebook Group called Keystone RV Customer Complaints has been started. Everything based on personal experience and personal opinion. By the way, I want nothing from Keystone RV. I just want to let everyone know the bad quality of their products.

I have a 2021 Keystone Passport GT 2400RB. It’s a piece of JUNK. I have made five or six 300 mile round trips to have my camper worked on. Fridge door warped. Cabinet door warped. Big chunk of plywood was missing from the end of the bed and splintered out. Someone took a new bed out of another camper and replaced it with a used one that was ripped on the bottom, Stabilizer jacks only worked on one side. Top of shower door was broken. Every single time I drove the camper somewhere, about half of the light covers would jiggle loose and come off. Last time I took it to get something fixed, 5 of them had fallen off the inside of the camper. Bedroom and Bathroom doors would keep coming off the track. Shades screws in two places just popped out of the wall. One more shade will not come down. Sawdust still comes out everywhere after you have taken it somewhere. Most have been fixed. Here is the kicker. I climbed on the ladder on the back of the camper to walk on the roof and the ladder broke and I fell on the hard surface on my back. In bed for a total on and off for over 2 weeks. Did Keystone care? Not one single bit. I was given a $750.00 goodwill check with extra attached to it for a new mattress I bought. That didn’t even make a dent in my losses of lots of money. That doesn’t count the injury to me due to the negligence of Keystone RV for not securing a ladder on the back of the camper correctly. I have had my camper for 6 months. That is half of the factory warranty. I asked them to extend my warranty and they refused. They asked me what I wanted. I said I would settle for $5000.00 and extend my warranty. They refused that also. I am going to let the news media, the Attorney General’s office, the court system, and do other things so this doesn’t happen again to someone else. I am the type who will never sit still for something done wrong to me. They will probably reply with a standard answer like most. I wish I had read the BBB reviews before I bought this lemon piece of JUNK. I will not stop until Keystone stops taking advantage of people. I already talked to a lot on Facebook and other sites about the problems they have. This is far from over. I forgot to mention that the propane regulator is bad on my unit and there is a recall on it and it will be February before I can buy one since KEYSTONE is out of them. I ordered one that will not be here until about February 10th 2022. By then, that should eat up most of my warranty. UPDATE :They offered me a $1800.00 settlement, but after reading the release form they sent me to sign I refused it and told them to keep the money. They basically want me to sign a piece of paper saying I hold nobody with Keystone RV or the dealer I bought it from responsible for anything. They also said in so many words I need to keep my mouth shut and not tell people anything about the problems I had with Keystone RV and not to discuss it with anyone and that’s a joke, so they can keep the money they offered and I am stuck with this piece of junk. UPDATE: 12/21/2021. Today I woke up to a phone call from the Director Of Operations for Keystone RV. His name is Steve Holmes. He offered to buy back my camper for what I paid for it. I told him I owed more than what I paid for it. It is called interest.
He wanted to know what I wanted and I hung up on him. Heck, I can make more by selling it myself. Since he wanted to know what I wanted, I emailed him and said, since they caused my injuries, then pay off my camper and I get to keep it. And now I will copy and paste his response. He asked me to make an offer and I did. How can you hurt a reputation that is already hurt all over the Internet?

    Robert,

If you come up with an offer that is fair and reasonable, please reach out to me. In the meantime, please refrain from saying that Keystone caused your injury. You continued to use a ladder that you had previously reported had a crack, you also admitted to exceeding the weight limit. Even still, Keystone assisted financially. Furthermore, you have communicated to Keystone that all repair complaints have been resolved.

At this point it would appear that you are attempting to extort Keystone for financial gain by using threats to publicly tarnish our reputation. I have offered to review a fair and reasonable repurchase price, however the stipulation would be that you would not purchase another Keystone, Dutchmen, or Crossroads product. This should not hinder your decision as you have continually stated that we build a terrible product.

Please let me know your thoughts as I am here to help facilitate any assistance that we can agree on.

    Thank you,

    STEPHEN M. HOLMES

Using threats, extortion? He asked what I wanted and I told him. As far as Keystone’s reputation, they are being bad mouthed all over the Internet. I have a right to speak the truth. I bought a piece of JUNK and I am stuck with the JUNK and they build JUNK and I will keep my JUNK. Him and his staff have twisted my claims and problems to try and make them look better. Telling people the truth is not a threat, it is a promise. Thank goodness I have made an impact on a lot of people and stopped them from buying a Keystone RV. Here is a copy of the RELEASE he wanted me to sign. I refused.

RELEASE THEY SENT ME TO SIGN

I purchased the Trailer from Dealer. Keystone RV Company was the manufacturer of the Trailer. Keystone provided a one-year limited base warranty and a
three-year limited structural warranty with the Trailer. 1. Thank you for sharing your experiance and for Stephen Holmes contact info. So sorry your are dealing with this. We have a small 2021 5th wheel we purchased brand new and we are being told that the unit is out of manufactures warranty. The refrigerator is not working properly and I guess hasn’t been since we purchased, we just didn’t realize it (this is our first RV). The dealer stated that the “manufacture used a backing board that had paper and the paper bubbled off and got sucked up in fan”. Dealer is telling us that it’s $2,200.00 to repair fan??? Crazy price. They will submit it to Good Sam to see if they will cover it. Even though it’s the manufacters faulty. Hopefully will hear something after lunch. If they don’t cover it, I will also be sharing my experiances and giving you credit to Mr. Holmes so he knows we do read reviews and post bad service.

  8. We bought a 2021 Keystone Cougar 26RBS on March 20, 2021. On our first trip out it cam a hard rain in the middle of the night. Me and my wife were awaken by water dripping on our heads from a leak from the front window we thought. As the morning sun came up the rain stopped and I was able to use a ladder and I discovered where the water was getting in. The front cap LED lights that run across the front cap, the hole to fish the lights through was not properly sealed with silicone. This hole was allowing water to enter the front collecting at the base of the window spilling over into the bed soaking the mattress and carpet under the bed. Also we discovered water leaks under the kitchen and bathroom sinks as well as the shower. During a travel day the trailers front drivers side shackel from the suspension broke also the back drivers side shackle broke. I was able to get roadside assistance and was able to get back home to address the suspension issue better. My solution to the suspension issue was to replace it with the Morryde CRE 3000 upgrade kit. The slide paneling inside the trailer has fallen off, several other cosmetic issues inside aswell had to be fixed. The hinges that allow the bed to be raised up had to be replace due to not being strong or sturdy enough to lift the bed up. The refrigerator came out of its housing inside the trailer, the trim around the refrigerator broke and had to be replace. I know all this sounds minor but when you by something brand new and spend close to $50,000 you should be able to expect a product in better shape. I am sure I have left off some other things. But being sorta handy I was able to fix some of these issues. I did make contact with Keystone, I spoke with a Stephen Holmes and explained to him my disappointment with Keystone. I told him there is no way this trailer should have passed a quality control inspection. Also I seriously doubt and inspection was done as to quality control. I told him that I feel that Keystone was in such a hurry to get campers to dealers that they rushed through building these campers just to meet demand. His solution to this was to extend my warrant six months and send me and my wife two t-shirts, two ball caps, and two koozies. Now my question to who ever reads this: Is this the type of customer service you would expect?

  9. i will never own another keystone product. i have a 2021 toyhauler and after 1 season of use the rear door is warped and does not stay closed. alpin haus in amsterdam ny has looked at the unit and determined that the door was not installed properly but keystone is not covering the repair because it is over 1 year old. the unit has 3 year warranty on structural but they claim door not structural. do not buy keystone brands

  10. I have had several issues with my new 2022 Montana High Country 5th wheel trailer. It looks pretty but the quality is not too good. Cheap materials and poor workmanship in construction. The dealer I purchased from, Cookeville RV 6thand Marine will not comunicate with me since delivery. Never again will I deal with either.

  11. We bought a 2022 Keystone Avalanche 390ds in oct of 2021 was delivered dec 2021 since then we have had nothing but problems wiring problems outlets, front door did not fit right light coming through
outside awning lights not even there from mfg,a/c only cooling rig 9 degrees different from outside a/c units were set wrong causing a lot of condensation on ceiling also all a/c duct work is crushed bought a camra to go through to inspect , roof leaking all the sealant on roof is cracked, rear window cut to big leaving a large hole where water can get in . Talk about a lemon customer service tells me somehow its our fault and they our right our fault for buying this piece of SHIT from them and expecting them to stand behind there product .they cannot keep doing this we need to hold them accountable
you would sure think if a person spends close to 100k on something it will work as promised

  12. We have a 2021 Colman Lantern. We bought it brand new. We have used it less than a dozen times and have a laundry list of things wrong with it. The outside refrigerator heats up so hot that we have to unplug it and remove it for fear it will start a fire or cause damage. All of the exterior weather stripping is rotten and falling off, the battery has never held a charge. Inside we have blinds that have broken, valances that have fallen off, wall paper peeling, trim that has come unglued, speakers that have fallen out of the ceiling, the stove cover is broken and screws continuously fall out.

  13. In May, we purchased a 2023 Keystone Aspen Lite. On our first trip out, we had a shower leak and couldn’t get the back up camera to connect. On our second trip out the shower still leaked. On our third trip out the entire front panel came apart on the freeway. On our fourth trip out the shower still leaked, the stereo stopped working, the bedroom door fell off, the window screens started coming out, we found a tear in the underside, our air conditioner leaked, all of the side paneling started bubbling, and the seal on our slide started coming apart. We took it back to the dealership and told them to keep it until everything was repaired (we are still under warranty), however the dealership is getting push back from Keystone and they do not want to make all the repairs. The dealer pointed out all of the places that the nail gun missed when our trailer was build which has led to all of the exterior shell coming off. Our trailer has been in the shop more than it’s been out. Two questions….. why are camp trailers not included in the lemon law (we are going to be writing to our congressfolks about this). Has anyone looked into filing a class action lawsuit? According to information we have found, you need 40 people; from reading the comments here, I’m guessing that it wouldn’t be too difficult to round up 40 unhappy people. The parts manager at the dealership asked us to reach out to Keystone to let them know our issues – they don’t care. The customer service rep, Genesis, is rude and unhelpful. Even getting a manager involved, the best they will do is extend our warranty by 3 months (whooooppie) or reimburse us for one month of payments! We will be writing to the Attorney General in Idaho (where we purchased) as well as Indiana (where it was manufactured) and I encourage everyone on here to do the same.
